Abstract:

Data from 183 animals raised in 61 flocks were collected to investigate the morphological characteristics of the Northern Morocco goat. Nine zoometric measures and seven combined indices were obtained. Three zones were defined  based on geo-climatic characteristics and environmental influences: Mediterranean, Atlantic and Dual. The morphological variables showed the absence of sexual dimorphism in the northern Morocco goat population. Measures were generally very similar (n.s. at p

Morphological differentiation between two Moroccan goat breeds

The objective of this study was to identify morphological measurements that best distinguish Moroccan Barcha and Atlas goat breeds. Ten measurements (body weight - BW, body length - BL, heart girth - HG, withers height - WH, rump height - WH, back length - BAL, neck length - NL, head length - HL, ear length - EL, and ear width - EW) of 876 adult animals of both sexes (547 Barcha and 329 Atlas) ...

Sex differentiation in goat fetus

Reproduction in domestic animals, as a major source of food and other products for human, has greatimportance and study of related subjects including sex differentiation and gonadogenesis during fetal life can solve many questions on normal development and various disorders of urogenital system. Since studies on sex differentiation in goat fetus are scarce, this study was performed. Twenty-five...

Genetic Characterization of Hamra Goat Population in Two Different Locations of Morocco Using Microsatellite Markers

In this study, genetic diversity of two different populations of Hamra goat breed of Morocco was investigated in 60 different samples (including 30 from Beni Arouss and 30 from Rommani) using fifteen microsatellite markers. A total of 145 alleles were detected with average number per locus of 8.67 and 8.07 in Beni Arouss and Rommani goats, respectively. The Shannon’s information index ranged fr...

Cultivation of Cannabis sativa L. in northern Morocco.

Field studies on cannabis cultivation have provided socio-economic data relating to, inter alia, production, yield and income. But only laboratory analyses of cannabis plants can provide information on their chemical composition and their levels of psychoactive constituents, thus enabling them to be classed as a drug type or a fibre type. The present study, which covers cannabis in its fresh, d...
